Who We Are

Lutherans for Love is a collective of allies from area ELCA (*Evangelical Lutheran Church of America) churches who stand for the power of radically inclusive love. Jesus taught that the greatest commandment in all the law is to love your neighbor. Full stop. San Diego Lutherans for Love believes God’s love is not ours to dole out but to experience freely with everyone regardless of race, ethnicity, gender identity or expression, age, sexual orientation, marital status, social or economic state, physical or mental challenge, and whether you are confident or questioning in your faith.

*Evangelical has become a misnomer for our church. The Evangelical Lutheran Church of America was founded on the word evangelical, derived from the Greek “euangelion”, meaning “the good news” or the “gospel.” Current U.S. political climates have altered how the word “evangelical” is understood. The ELCA is a church that seeks to share the unconditional love of God for all people.
